New stall lines at Guelph business park

Guelph line painting

Parking Lot Line Painting in Guelph

Kitchener Parking Lot Line Painting Pros restripes parking lots, paints accessible stalls and marks warehouse floors across Guelph, from the Hanlon Creek Business Park to the apartment lots around the University of Guelph. We have painted lines in and around Waterloo Region since 2015 and have more than 550 jobs behind us.

Guelph is its own city outside the Region of Waterloo, with its own zoning by-law, fire route by-law and parking penalties. Its accessible parking rules are stricter than Kitchener's in one way that matters on every job: the access aisle beside an accessible stall must be at least 2 m wide, not 1.5 m.

We book Guelph work on set days so one crew can finish several sites in a single trip. That keeps scheduling predictable for property managers who run both Guelph and Kitchener buildings.

What we paint

Line Painting Services for Guelph Properties

Guelph demand leans toward business park lots, apartment and townhouse complexes, and courts for clubs and schools. These are the services we book most often in the city.

Business Park and Plaza Restriping

Our parking lot line painting and restriping service covers office and industrial lots in the south end and big-box plazas on Woodlawn Road and Stone Road. Most are restriped on the existing layout in one evening or one night.

Accessible Stalls With 2 m Aisles

Guelph's zoning by-law asks for a wider aisle than the AODA minimum. Our accessible parking stall painting lays out each Guelph aisle at 2 m or more, hatched in high-contrast diagonal lines.

Warehouse and Plant Floors

Newer industrial buildings in the Hanlon Creek Business Park need forklift lanes, walkways and racking zones. Our warehouse floor line painting uses two-part epoxy and can run year-round indoors.

Fire Routes for Apartments and Plants

Guelph fire routes are designated property by property. Our fire route marking service paints curb and lane lines to match the route and signs the City approved for your site.

Tennis and pickleball clubs, schools and condo amenity areas in Guelph also book us for court lines. Our sports court line painting service uses 100% acrylic court paint on acrylic-surfaced courts.

By-laws

Guelph Sits Outside Waterloo Region: What Changes

Guelph's parking stalls follow the City of Guelph's Comprehensive Zoning By-law (2023)-20790, Section 5, not any Waterloo Region by-law. It came into force on February 6, 2024, except for parts appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal, and a partial settlement on parking rates followed in March 2026.

Some stall-size and EV clauses were still under appeal in the most recent version we reviewed, so we confirm them with Guelph Zoning Services before laying out a new lot. The table compares Guelph's numbers with Kitchener's parking stall dimensions.

Guelph Zoning By-law (2023)-20790, Section 5 minimums

Accessible access aisle2 m wide, full stall length, high tonal contrast diagonal lines (Kitchener: 1.5 m)Section 5.7

The 2 m aisle is the change that catches out-of-town crews. A Guelph plaza re-laid out with 1.5 m aisles meets the AODA Design of Public Spaces standard but not the City's by-law.

One more Guelph detail: the Stone Road and Edinburgh Road area is governed by Community Planning Permit By-law (2025)-21064 instead of the zoning by-law. If your property is in that area, we work from your approved permit drawings.

Enforcement

Fire Routes and Parking Enforcement in Guelph

Fire routes and accessible stalls on private Guelph lots are enforced under City by-laws, and both depend on markings and signs that drivers can actually see.

How a Fire Route Is Designated

Under the Fire Route By-law (2003)-17082, the owner applies in writing with a site plan, the City sets the number, location and type of signs, and Council adds the property to Schedule B. No fire route signs may go up before the City's written direction arrives.

Snow and Ice on Fire Routes

The same by-law makes the owner keep signs in good condition and the route clear of snow and ice. That puts plow blades on the fire route all winter, which is why Guelph fire route lines are often the first to need a spring touch-up.

Accessible Stall Penalties

Guelph's Parking Penalties By-law (2025)-21188, in force since January 1, 2026, sets a $365 penalty for parking in a private designated accessible space without a permit. Blocking that space with snow or an object is also an offence.

Parking Without Consent

Guelph's Private Property Parking By-law (1997)-15402 bans parking on private property without the owner's consent, and a legible posted sign brings a lot under it. Clear stall lines and VISITOR stencils back up what the sign says.

Local knowledge

Where We Work in Guelph

Most of our Guelph work falls in three parts of the city, each with its own kind of lot and its own best time to paint.

Hanlon Creek Business Park and the Northwest Industrial Area

The Hanlon Creek Business Park grew from about 420 acres the City acquired in 2001, on land annexed from Puslinch in 1993. Its newer buildings have truck courts, dock hatching and large staff lots, and the older industrial area off Woodlawn Road West and Silvercreek Parkway adds plant floors and fire routes.

Stone Road Mall and South End Plazas

Retail lots around Stone Road Mall and along Gordon Street and Clair Road get heavy traffic, so we restripe them overnight in sections. Arrows and stop bars at the busiest entrances are usually repainted every spring.

Apartments and Townhomes Near the University of Guelph

Rental buildings south and east of the campus turn over before the fall term. We paint numbered stalls and visitor rows in late August, before the start of September moves.

Getting there

Scheduling Guelph Jobs From Kitchener

Guelph is 30 to 35 minutes from our shop, so we group Guelph jobs onto set days rather than sending a crew for each small site. North and west end jobs are reached by Highway 7, and south end sites like the Hanlon Creek Business Park by the 401 and the Hanlon Expressway (Highway 6).

The route will change over the next few years. The new Highway 7 will be an 18 km four-lane freeway linking Highway 85 in Kitchener to the Hanlon Expressway, with an interchange at Woodlawn Road and Silvercreek Parkway; the Grand River bridges phase still depends on approvals and funding.

  • Areas we cover: downtown Guelph along the Speed River, the south end, the University area, Kortright Hills, the west end and the Woodlawn Road industrial area
  • Corridors we paint most: Woodlawn Road, Stone Road, Gordon Street, Clair Road, Silvercreek Parkway and Speedvale Avenue
  • Guelph days booked through the season, with urgent touch-ups added to the next one

Local conditions

Groundwater, Bedrock and Winter Salt in Guelph

Guelph is the largest Canadian city to rely almost entirely on groundwater for its drinking water, drawn from limestone and dolomite bedrock through 21 municipal wells. The City lists winter salting among the top threats to that supply.

That matters to a lot owner in two ways. Salt and sand are what grind paint off the pavement, so lots that cut back on salt usually keep their lines longer. It is also one more reason Guelph sites suit waterborne paint, which cleans up with water rather than solvent.

  • Summer jobs use waterborne traffic paint under the federal 150 g/L VOC limit from May 1 to October 15
  • New asphalt in the Hanlon Creek and Guelph Innovation District areas needs about 30 days to cure before final striping
  • Spring is the best time to restripe lots that took a full season of plowing and salt

Typical day

How a Typical Guelph Day Runs

A Guelph day groups three or four jobs that would each be too small for their own trip. This is what a typical day in season looks like.

  1. Early Morning: Business Park Lot

We start at a Hanlon Creek office or industrial lot before staff arrive, restriping 80 to 150 stalls and the fire route.

  2. Midday: Apartment Complex

Residents are at work, so we phase a townhouse or apartment lot near the university with notices posted 72 hours ahead.

  3. Afternoon: Court or Small Lot

A club tennis court, a pickleball overlay or a small church lot fills the gap while the morning's lines cure.

  4. Evening: South End Plaza

After stores close on Gordon Street or Clair Road, we restripe a 40 to 60 stall plaza in about 3 to 4 hours.

FAQ

Guelph Line Painting FAQs

These are the questions Guelph property managers and business park owners ask us most.

Do you charge extra to travel to Guelph?

No separate travel charge applies to Guelph. We keep it that way by grouping Guelph jobs onto set days, and small jobs still carry our standard $450 minimum.

Do Guelph's stall sizes match Kitchener's?

No. Guelph's by-law sets 2.75 m by 5.5 m for apartment, mixed-use and non-residential stalls, against Kitchener's 2.6 m. Guelph also allows compact stalls up to 15% at 2.4 m by 5.5 m and requires a 2 m accessible access aisle.

Can you paint a fire route before the City approves it?

We can paint the lines, but Guelph's fire route by-law says signs cannot go up until the City gives written direction. We usually paint once the route and sign locations are confirmed, so the markings and signs match.

How soon can you get to a Guelph site?

In season, most Guelph jobs go on the next scheduled Guelph day, and we give you the date with the quote. Quotes from a satellite screenshot or site plan come back within one business day.
