Overnight restripe on Hespeler Road plaza

Cambridge line painting

Parking Lot Line Painting in Cambridge, Ontario

Kitchener Parking Lot Line Painting Pros paints parking lots, truck courts and warehouse floors across Cambridge, from the plazas on Hespeler Road to the tight lots behind downtown Galt's stone buildings. We have been painting lines in Waterloo Region since 2015 and have more than 550 finished jobs to our name.

Cambridge is really three towns, Galt, Preston and Hespeler, joined into one city in 1973, and each one has a different kind of parking lot. Galt has small, odd-shaped lots in a heritage district, Hespeler Road has the region's busiest retail strip, and the Highway 401 corridor is lined with distribution and manufacturing yards.

Cambridge also measures stalls differently from its neighbours. Commercial and industrial lots still fall under the older Zoning By-law 150-85, which calls for a 2.9 m wide stall, so we check every re-layout against Cambridge's own table rather than Kitchener's.

What we paint

Line Painting Services for Cambridge Businesses

Cambridge work splits between retail restripes on Hespeler Road and Franklin Boulevard and industrial jobs near the 401. Those two groups drive most of the services we book in the city.

Plaza and Power Centre Restriping

Our parking lot line painting and restriping service handles the large retail lots along Hespeler Road and Pinebush Road. We restripe overnight in sections so anchor stores and late-night restaurants keep their parking.

Re-layouts for Older Galt and Preston Lots

Lots behind older buildings were rarely laid out to today's rules. Our new parking lot layout and re-layout service measures the space, applies Cambridge's stall and aisle table and finds the best stall count it allows.

Truck Courts and Warehouse Floors

Distribution buildings near the 401 need dock hatching, trailer stalls and forklift aisles. Our warehouse floor line painting uses two-part epoxy indoors, applied over a weekend or a planned shutdown.

Fire Routes for Multi-unit Industrial

Multi-tenant industrial buildings on Boxwood Drive and Bishop Street often share one fire access route. Our fire route marking service paints the curb and lane lines and stencils to match the route on your approved site plan.

Quick-service restaurants along Hespeler Road also book drive-thru lane arrows, order-point stop bars and pickup stall lettering through our parking lot stencils and custom markings. For drive-thru lanes we often suggest thermoplastic, which lasts 3 to 6 years against the 1 to 2 years of paint.

Local knowledge

Galt, Preston and Hespeler: Different Kinds of Lots

Each part of Cambridge brings a different layout problem, and a crew that only knows suburban plazas will struggle in Galt. Here is how the city breaks down for a line painter.

Older, Tighter Lots in Downtown Galt

Downtown Galt sits on the Grand River, and its core is the Main Street Heritage Conservation District, bounded by Main Street, Ainslie Street, Imperial Lane and Water Street. Lots there are wedged between 19th century stone buildings, with odd angles, retaining walls and one-way access lanes.

We lay those out with a measuring wheel and chalk line rather than copying faded lines, and we often use 45 degree stalls where a one-way aisle is the only thing that fits.

Retail Plazas Along Hespeler Road

Hespeler Road runs from the 401 south toward Galt and carries the city's main retail strip, including Cambridge Centre at 355 Hespeler Road. Traffic barely stops, so we restripe after close and before the morning rush.

Arrows, stop bars and drive-thru lanes wear out first here, usually within one winter.

Preston's Main Street Lots

Preston grew up where the Speed River meets the Grand, and its King Street core has small municipal and private lots tucked behind storefronts. These jobs are small, so we pair them with a nearby plaza or industrial job on the same night.

Logistics and Industrial Sites Near Highway 401

The industrial streets on both sides of the 401, such as Boxwood Drive, Bishop Street North, Eagle Street and Pinebush Road, hold distribution, manufacturing and trade units. Typical scope is trailer parking, dock hatching, fire routes and indoor forklift lanes, scheduled for weekends.

By-laws

Cambridge Zoning and Parking Stall Rules

Two zoning by-laws now apply in Cambridge, and which one governs your lot depends on its use. Residential zones moved to the new Zoning By-law 26-007 on February 3, 2026, while commercial and industrial lots still follow Zoning By-law 150-85.

The older by-law is the one most plazas and industrial sites work to. Its Section 2.2.3 sets a 2.9 m stall width at every angle, wider than Waterloo's 2.8 m or Kitchener's parking stall dimensions at 2.6 m.

Cambridge minimum stall and aisle sizes
LayoutBy-law 150-85 (commercial, industrial)By-law 26-007 (residential zones)
90 degree stall2.9 m by 5.5 m, 6.0 m aisle2.75 m by 5.5 m
60 degree stall2.9 m by 5.5 m, 5.0 m aisle2.9 m by 6.0 m (angled)
45 degree stall2.9 m by 5.5 m, 4.0 m aisle2.9 m by 6.0 m (angled)
Parallel stall2.9 m by 6.5 m, 5.0 m aisle6.5 m long
Drive aisle6.0 m access driveway, 4 m for 10 or fewer cars or one way6.0 m two-way, 4.0 m one-way
Accessible stallsNot set in this by-law; AODA appliesType A 3.4 m, Type B 2.4 m, 1.5 m aisle
Visitor stallsClearly defined and identified0.25 per unit for apartments, clearly marked

Two details matter on residential jobs. Lots that legally existed before February 3, 2026 are exempt from the new stall sizes, and new apartment buildings with more than 10 required spaces must design 20% of them as EV stalls.

Neither by-law has a compact or small-car stall, which is a key difference from Kitchener. Accessible stalls on commercial lots follow the AODA Design of Public Spaces standard, covered in our AODA parking requirements guide.

Enforcement

Accessible Stalls, Fire Routes and Lot Upkeep

Cambridge's property standards rules reach into the parking lot itself. The Property Standards By-law 26-021 says every parking space and access aisle must be maintained in good repair, so faded stall lines can become a compliance issue, not just a looks issue.

The Lot Maintenance By-law 26-022 also requires owners to sign every fire access route and keep fire routes, accessible spaces and access aisles unobstructed.

  • Accessible stalls on a private lot can only be ticketed after Council adds the property to Schedule A of the Disabled Parking By-law 184-06. Cambridge Centre and many Pinebush Road and Boxwood Drive properties are already listed.
  • Under the Private Parking By-law, as amended by 186-06, tickets or tows on private lots follow the owner's written complaint, and posted signs set the conditions.
  • Fire route signs follow your approved site plan and the Fire Protection and Prevention Act; Service Cambridge at 519-623-1340 can confirm what applies to your site.

Getting there

Reaching Cambridge From Our Kitchener Shop

Most Cambridge sites are 20 to 25 minutes from our shop. We take the Conestoga Parkway to Highway 8, then the 401 to the Hespeler Road industrial area, and continue south on Hespeler Road for downtown Galt.

Hespeler Road traffic is heavy from late afternoon into the evening, so plaza crews usually leave the shop after 9:00pm and start painting once stores close. Industrial jobs near the 401 start early Saturday morning.

  • Communities we cover: Galt, Preston, Hespeler, Blair and the newer subdivisions in east and west Galt
  • Corridors we paint most: Hespeler Road, Franklin Boulevard, Pinebush Road, Eagle Street, Water Street and King Street in Preston
  • Same-week touch-ups in season, combined with other Cambridge jobs where we can

FAQ

Cambridge Line Painting FAQs

These are the questions Cambridge property managers, plaza owners and plant managers ask us most.

Can you restripe a Hespeler Road plaza overnight?

Yes. A 40 to 60 stall plaza takes one evening of about 3 to 4 hours after close, and lines are drivable 30 to 60 minutes after the last pass. Larger power centres are phased over two or three nights.

Do you mark warehouse floors in Cambridge industrial parks?

Yes. We paint epoxy forklift lanes, walkways and racking zones for units on Boxwood Drive, Bishop Street North, Eagle Street and Pinebush Road. Indoor work runs year-round as long as the slab is above 10 C.

Can you fit more stalls into an older Galt lot?

Often, yes. Cambridge has no compact stall size, but switching to 45 degree stalls with a 4.0 m one-way aisle can fit a narrow lot better than 90 degree parking with its 6.0 m aisle. Anything below the by-law minimum needs City approval first.

Which Cambridge zoning by-law applies to my lot?

Commercial and industrial lots use Zoning By-law 150-85 and its 2.9 m stall. Residential zones moved to By-law 26-007 in February 2026, with a 2.75 m stall for new layouts, while existing lots keep their current sizes.

Are faded lines really a by-law issue in Cambridge?

They can be. Property Standards By-law 26-021 requires parking spaces and access aisles to be kept in good repair, and accessible aisle hatching that has worn away is hard to defend.
